THE Coalition will seek to abolish more than 8000 redundant federal laws with its first "repeal day", scheduled for the final parliamentary sitting week in March as part of its plan to slash red and green tape by $1 billion a year.
Tony Abbott is expected to make a special statement to the House of Representatives on March 19 outlining the government's progress in reducing red and green tape after writing to all cabinet ministers just before Christmas giving them a six-week deadline to submit proposed regulatory reductions for policy approval and drafting.
On the same day, parliament will be presented with the Omnibus Red Tape Repeal Bill and a series of specific bills proposing the repeal of burdensome regulations. Two other bills - the Statute Law Revision Bill and the Amending Acts 1901-1969 Bill - will propose slashing 8000 redundant legislative instruments going back to the turn of the 20th century. The government says the bills, which will be debated the following week, represent the biggest single reduction in federal laws ever put before the commonwealth parliament.
Guaranteed Labor will obfuscate the Gov’t repeal – as the left hate having their progressive legislative statues torn down.

Bob Hawke and Paul Keating have urged the Abbott government to slash spending and speedily repair the budget bottom line, arguing they faced up to a similar challenge in 1986-87 when the terms of trade collapsed and the dollar plummeted.
"It's a very, very large budget deficit that you're looking at, projecting $47 billion, and they seem to be walking away from the suggestion that they can move into surplus in this first term," said Mr Hawke, the prime minister from 1983 to 1991.
"What is required is the same thing. You've got to have a prime minister and treasurer, and a competent ministry which understands the issue and is prepared to make hard decisions. So it's the same challenge."
Mr Keating, treasurer during the period, told The Australian that having informed voters "we couldn't go on maintaining the standard of living we had become accustomed to", he had to follow through with "structural adjustments to the economy and cut spending across the board".
"The broad lesson is to inform the public of the problem and then earnestly pursue the remedies," he said.
"When you're cutting outlays like we were, we had outlays growing at less than the inflation rate for a number of years, you've really got to want to do this. You've really got to have the skills."
My advice to PM Abbott, stop trying to please everyone and just roll up your sleeves and make the country take the hard medicine now – meaning – slash middle class welfare (specifically Family Tax benefits A & B), eliminate the hundreds of various Gov’t quango’s, seriously consider abolishing the Federal Depts of Health and Education and get rid of all renewable energy subsidies.

The article confirms what I have always thought the true green agenda is all about. Climate Change, Global Warming or Climate Disruption (or whatever it’s called) has been subverted by the progressive elite and the watermelons of the green movement. Their aims are simple: to extend the powers of government; to vastly raise taxes; to destroy the capitalist system; to end personal freedom and property ownership; to redistribute income both domestically and internationally; to bring ever-closer the advent of an eco-fascist New World Order.
These same ecotards at the London conference are also calling for the introduction of Personal Carbon quotas. Just stop and think about that for a moment. Personal Carbon quotas is the perfect class war weapon. George Orwell saw all this class warfare coming with his essay, "Ignorance Is Strength." In the essay, Orwell lays down the iron rule of history: "Throughout recorded time, and probably since the end of the Neolithic Age, there have been three kinds of people in the world: High, Middle, and Low.”
Orwell cynically notes that the Middle (The Bourgeois) always campaign for power by promising the Low that they will be moved toward the top. In fact, if the Middle are able to seize power, they establish themselves as the High, the Low are crushed, and that's the end of the story until the next Middle become powerful enough to start another cycle.
Orwell concludes: "As soon as they have reached their objective, the Middle thrust the Low back into their old position of servitude, and themselves become the High."
Using the excuse of “Catastrophic” Anthropogenic Global Warming (CAGW) I believe we are witnessing an attempted coup by the current Middle – the intellectuals, academics, ideologues, journalists, thinkers, and talkers (i.e., people who feel entitled to run the world because they think they are so smart). This hungry Middle wants to take power from the bankers, tycoons, entrepreneurs, and industrialists - the movers and shakers who have generated the vast majority of wealth.
Orwell's essay is depressing because he sees no hope that the Low can ever improve their condition. In his view, the Middle are always liars, manipulators, and exploiters, despite their honeyed promises.
I think it's fair to say that the pro CAGW alarmists and their progressive far-left Pals would like to move to the Top. Obviously, this is bad news for the High, but it’s even worse for the Low. The people at the bottom will be kept there, ignorant, on welfare.
Ignorance is Strength: “If the population does not know that anything more can exist, or that they are being lied to, or that change is possible, they aren't going to care. If a government can manage to keep its population so ignorant that they do not question what they are told, no weaknesses within what the government says will ever be found.”

In response to the announcement by General Motors from its corporate headquarters in Detroit that it will discontinue vehicle and engine manufacturing and significantly reduce its engineering operations in Australia by the end of 2017, the Socialist Alliance calls for the immediate nationalisation of GM Holden plants under workers' and community control.
This process should be extended to Ford as well as Toyota, which has already warned it cannot survive if the other two car companies close down. Under public ownership and control, the entire car industry should be re-tooled to manufacture public transport vehicles, electric cars and infrastructure for a rapid shift to renewable energy.
