Having ripped off his union to support his family's lavish lifestyle, Michael Williamson went to extraordinary lengths to cover his tracks once the police investigation commenced.
Strike Force Carnarvon was established in the wake of the Herald's 2011 revelations of systemic corruption and nepotism in the Health Services Union, which Williamson had run as a personal fiefdom for 16 years.
The police statement of facts, which was tendered at the Downing Centre Criminal Court in Sydney on Tuesday accompanying Williamson's guilty plea, paints an extraordinary portrait of a man prepared to do anything to save his skin.

Now we need similar investigations into the CFMEU and AWU,and all the dock workers as well. We got some rich fat bastards that supposedly have been nothing other than general labourers all their lives other than leading the union branch. Union leadership and criminality go hand in hand in Australia and their prominence in the Labor party is just as much a major reason not to trust them as their socialist policies are.
