Big parties' election funding deal wobbles as MPs field protest calls
The government’s proposals for electoral funding are on the verge of collapse, with the opposition coming under internal pressure to walk away from the deal that will give the major parties $50 million over the next three years in the face of a public backlash.
Despite the plans being negotiated over almost two years in meetings involving senior frontbench MPs on both sides, respected Liberals have broken ranks, describing the deal as ‘‘immoral’’.

According to Anthony Albanese the Labor party is broke and have to get some funds by fair means or foul. The Labor party is bankrupt just like its politicians. Financially, ethically and morally bankrupt.
It doesn't matter how these grubs choose to spin this morally deficient fraud it is still a morally deficient fraud.
But let's not forget that Mr Abbott and company initially supported this outrageous theft of taxpayers money. Even though they have now had second thoughts, Mr Abbott and his crew should tread very carefully if they expect to gain sufficient support to win the upcoming election with any sort of majority.
