Opinion
“I was young and naïve,” Prime Minister Julia Gillard has often said about her choice of men. Comprehensive reporting of her Labor paramours, whether married or not, combined with various advantages might suggest she is not naïve, novice, nor prudent.
Today’s acrimonious battle for the levers of power could be equated to a boxing bout where the referee choses to ignore eye-gouging, hitting below the belt, putting the boot in while the opponent is on the canvas and shrill, verbal abuse. But the most telling damage, as any boxer will tell you, are body blows. They accumulate like sacks of concrete upon the shoulders, bowing the legs and crossing the eyes, preparing the dazed sucker for that inevitable, knockout punch.
Unintended and uncalculated body blows upon Julia Gillard is landed by her present main squeeze, Australia’s “First Bloke,” Tim Mathieson. The ex barber has become a political ball and chain around Julia’s leg. Tim’s erratic behaviour has earned the disparaging title of, Australia’s “First Joke” or Julia’s “handbag.”
His cultural leap from tittle-tattle gossip in his cash-strapped Salon de Coiffures, to “a somebody” at The Lodge, a grand, four-acre spread at 5 Adelaide Avenue Deakin, and Kirribilli House while in Sydney, launched an inordinate sense of self-importance.
His stage debut evoked sniggers with his “royal wave” and a chummy thumbs-up from the doorway of “RAAF One” when departing to wherever on official diplomatic missions. Some foreign heads of state thought Tim was the PM—Tim acted so.
Cloyingly patronised by a leftist media, the First Joke’s sense of national worth grew like fungus in a wet gumboot. When egos command, sensibilities are first casualties, especially when prudence, diplomacy, and smarts were never moderators.
Tim really put people offside when he spoke about his daily activities at the Lodge while his meal ticket sprayed venom at the Opposition in parliament. The Sun Herald interviewed Tim: “At home at The Lodge, he behaves like a very caring and solicitous partner, delivering the busy PM her morning paper and helping with an early morning blow wave for the television cameras.” And, when his freebies are limited: “Then I have to recover during the day and sit on the couch and watch Parliament, which usually puts you to sleep.” Poor Tim!
Diplomatic “clangers” became de rigueur, perplexing Gillard’s itinerary organisers. Her visit to Indonesia and Malaysia, both conservative Islamic nations, with boyfriend in tow showed disrespect for her host’s trenchancy on un-married domestic liaisons. “Khalwat” is the sexual misconduct criminal charge that carries two-years’ jail.
Tim was the “first spouse” in the UN’s 67-year history to attend a tea party hosted by the UN General-Secretary’s wife Ban Soon-Taek. Craving approbation Tim cracked a funny about prostate cancer. He recommended for the rectal examination a small, Asian female doctor. That gaff went global instantly. Coursing the UN’s halls of gossip during that visit was that Tim had somehow infected Julia with a stomach bug. Julia denied that.
Tim’s Okka trademark on the international stage caused Labor handlers to engage the services of a “diplomacy tutor” to help him with “…scheduling of his official events…” His irreverent “You again!” blurt, when meeting the Queen for a second time made news—the lessons didn’t work.
Tim’s “don’t you know who I am” attitude is exemplified when it comes to driving government cars, especially to his favourite, free sporting events of which there are many. Football, motor grand prix, cricket, horse racing, portrait galleries, cricket, and rock concerts. Red-light running, smashing into things and parking infractions are documented.
From this taxpayer’s perspective, Tim Mathieson is little better than a bludging liability upon the Office of the Prime Minister. His recent interference in the Richmond footy club about who they should not invite to their rooms is risible. His angry email to Tigers CEO Brendon Gale said. “Mate u need to speak with Ben Hubbard on why Abbott was taken down to the rooms...” What nerve!
The latest perk is for “Tim-the-bikey” to raise funds for the Catch-Up School in Cambodia. A noble pursuit, were there no similar poverty in Australia. The trip is expected to have about 50 riders and starts at Kirribilli House in Sydney, on to The Lodge in Canberra, via Wollongong and Kangaroo Valley. Tim’s mount is a new bike on loan from BMW.
Freebies lavished upon celebrities and influential people are common. But business needs “bang for their buck.” I predict September 15th will see “The First Joke” packing his portmanteau and returning his stable of on-loan “toys.” What I can’t predict is: whether Julia will still be around and if she is, will she give Tim the boot for being such a ball and chain?
Either way, without the hook of Gillard’s high office, Tim’s commercial and charitable value will be zip. Any bets that his extensive, official wardrobe of fineries will be auctioned on eBay?
What a great pity that on September 15th Gillard won't have to leave behind all the emoluments of her career as PM in part repayment of the cost to Australia of her tenure.
An even greater pity that her inglorious, incompetent, divisive and abusive tenure as PM will entitle her to keep her hands in paxpayers pockets for life.

An amazing discovery has recently been made in the Vatican’s Secret Archives. It is a document containing a previously unknown part of Dante’s Inferno.
It was found stitched to the back of a report on the execution by auto-de-fe of Colvinus Ruddorino, the famous Terra de Regina heretic.
To the medieval mind, the Inferno will exist for all eternity and as such, is in an eternal “now”. Hence it already contains all the souls that it will ever contain, including those of people already dead, living and yet to be born.
As Dante and his guide Vergil descend further, they encounter a lake of sewage, from which the heads of tormented souls are protruding.
Vergil explains that these are the souls of politicians who abandoned their free will, to speak only as their faceless masters dictated. They are standing on the shoulders of those who provided a platform for them to speak in this world and hence will continue to do so for all eternity in the Inferno.
As Dante approaches the lake of sewage, a voice calls out.
“Hear me living man, hear my tale of sorrow and disaster,
For I abandoned my free will, to speak only as my master.
My name is Antonius Abbottus, please do not treat me badly,
For all eternity I am condemned to stand
On the shoulders of Ray Hadley.”
The soul of Ray Hadley becomes agitated and begins to speak.
“Hear me living man, came his voice through sighs and moans,
For all eternity I am condemned to stand
On the shoulders of Alan Jones.”
Dante then remonstrates with Antonius, saying that his punishment should be more severe. Antonius then answers him.
“Hear me living man, do not begin to gloat,
For every hour upon the hour,
Julia Gillard comes by driving her speedboat.”
In the right-hand corner of the document is a crude sketch, showing the lake of sewage, with a building on the foreshore. From the building a pipe is discharging sewage into the lake.
There is a sign on the building, saying . . N Z I . S H O . S . (text unfortunately damaged). Plans are in place for an electronic scan which may reveal the missing letters.

Legends in their own minds Geoff while the rest of us cringe in embarrassment.
Roll on September 14. Clean Up Australia Day.
Posted by: Grantley | March 23, 2013 at 03:16 PM
Surely you mean this May.
Isn't that when Tony tries his next No Confidence motion during the Budget session and mixes it up with his Suspension of Standing & Sessional Orders motion?
Or do you have no confidence in Tony?
Posted by: Smutsie | March 23, 2013 at 03:34 PM
Smutsie, my dear man, you will have to let us in on whatever brand it is you are smoking. Fair enough that you attempt the impossible of trying to defend Australia's First Joke while inspired by the delights of your bong but don't do it by a general mud-sling at Abbott for reasons totally unconnected with the article.
People waste time assuming it has something to do with Tim and Julia and wait for the point and get treble pissed when there is none.
Posted by: Rumplestilskin | March 23, 2013 at 05:05 PM
Right, you're not the Dante of inanities!
Posted by: ibbit | March 23, 2013 at 05:42 PM
Geoff, that is a pretty accurate take on the life and worth of the "First Bloke". The none too bright shaking up with the not too fussy.
Come September 15 I would guess that we wont hear anything more of or from Timothy the hairdresser. It is a great pity that he can't be billed for the inconvenience to the taxpayers.
Smutsie, I doubt very much that you have a masters degree in anything apart from stupidity. There was a comment earlier this week that suggested that you be less of a smartarse and put forward some reasonable, educated debate but it appears that it is beyond your level of common sense.
I will await your inane response.

Just for the record :
You may have missed a previous post where I was accused of being Dante, (hence the post), someone who posted here previously and must have been a burr under the Menzies House saddle.
Also remember that Smutsie is an alter ego, a bit of a funster.
Must be over 40 years since I had a bong, back in the days when you were indulging in a natural herb, not the genetically modified rocket fuel that is now messing with people's minds.
I was going to say that Julia Gillard has been most unfortunate in her choice of partners (think Napoleon and Josephine) but
my overarching ego has just told me that it is very poor form to attack someone through their partner.
After all Tim Mathieson is not a member of parliament.
I was reminded of the atrocious attack on Dallas, wife of Bill Hayden.
Coalition figures hammered Mrs Hayden's character after she was arrested for shoplifting $100 worth of cosmetics. The charges were eventually dropped on the basis of medical evidence that she suffered from a condition that caused disorientation and memory lapse.
Charming, eh?
Posted by: Smutsie | March 23, 2013 at 07:22 PM
I have a masters degree in electrical engineering.
See my post in reply to rumplestilskin.
Want my personal opinion of Tim Mathieson - he's a dick-head.
Julia Gillard has been most unfortunate in her choice of partners. I suspect her towering intellect frightens most of them away.
Bit like when I was much younger and noticed that the best looking girls were often ignored because blokes thought they would not have a chance.
Once I had that figured out ... better not go there in case Mrs Smutsie finds out. She was the best looking of them all!
Feel better now.
Must point out that Smutsie is an alter ego. The real overarching ego is much closer to the Menzies House meme that you realise.
My only concern is about Tony Abbott becoming prime minister. Far from being a right-wing tea party nutjob, I suspect he is a centrist leaning a little to the left.
Give me Joe Hockey any day.

If you are going to quote Dante, even in a failed attempt at Humour get it right.
It is Virgil.
Heard this joke in grade 3 (60 years ago)
Talk about shit.

You only get worse when you try your smart arsed replies "alter ego".
Don't give up your day job to try being a comic.

It used to be about Masons and Cardinal Gilroy - right?
Posted by: Smutsie | March 23, 2013 at 09:11 PM
My day job is far too serious and well paid.
I save the comic bit for posting (not just at Menzies house) on weekends.
Posted by: Smutsie | March 23, 2013 at 09:14 PM
Thanks for your explanation Smutsie.
One day I might decode it; it's written in some language that resembles English as far as I can see, but that is as far as I get.
Torture it as I might, I cannot see how your claim that you are dissing attacking spouses is even faintly adumbrated in your first post.
If you can bowl as you write you will be hearing from the Ashes selectors.

Hey Geoff, your ball and chain reference is coincidental, did you see The Boss' Wrecking ball performance last night at at the Allphones Arena at Olympic Park? Man, at 64 years he was all energy, entertained the crowd for at least three hours and he's only a few years younger than me, I take my hat off to the man.
I bet he can still get it up, can you still get it up, probably not? I bet Tim Mathieson can still get it up and still please his partner, I bet it's been a while since you gave someone some loving especially since almost everything you pen sounds like you are sucking on a lemon.
Hey if Time can still please his partner then he'll be a better man than you in many ways. :)

Referring to your comment as a "piece of shit" would be insulting to shit.
You are a fair dinkum moron and your putrid comment reflects the depravity of your insignificant existance.
Pathetic. Much like Timmo.

Smutsie was happy drunk when he wrote his piece. You were sober.
Big difference.
Your piece looks like the work of a gutter-wallowing grub. A creep.
And a jerk as well.

@4: I have every confidence in Tony Abbott mate, but very little to zero in the likes of Windsor, Katter, Oakshot, Thompson, Wilke, and Brandt, those that warm the cross benches and lap up their pieces of silver to keep Gillard and her Band Of Idiots in office.
You talk of humour....well I can tell you that the engine of Australia, small business, sees no humour in a massive loss of confidence in our govt that chokes the life out of our economy.....talk a walk around and ask the retailers and shop operators how much fun life is at the moment.
Posted by: Grantley | March 24, 2013 at 09:42 AM
Dante of inanities. How can anyone possibly take seriously someone who protests so loudly about alter egos, good looking girls, and his brilliant mind when you post such drivel, all in an attempt to laud yourself. What's your problem, an inferior complex?
What does the then, not well, Dallas Hayden have to do with the ridiculous Tim the hairdresser? The taker of endless freebies and attempted abuse of his position - whatever that might be. When he has come under attack other than for tasteless comments?
How do we take seriously someone who had the bad judgement to laud the misbegotten Julia but malign a decent living man with the load of shite you posted above.
Grow up and for heaven's sake stop protesting "How Great I Am" when attacked, you pathetic creature.
Posted by: ibbit | March 24, 2013 at 10:21 AM
Listen up old bloke. Says a lot about whoever you are that you can descend into the above kind of personal attack in the name of comment.
You demean all your pen touched with that filth and not least yourself.
It's not to be wondered at that your support the garbage called government - from the top down (not all are putrid, far from it) but mostly those now inhabiting what is being called the Julia Party sure are.
In my opinion your comment should have been removed and no further comments of yours posted, you vile creature.
Posted by: ibbit | March 24, 2013 at 10:29 AM
Tim,
Are you going to allow the sort of foul drivel posted at comment 54 to pass muster?
I think most who follow this site would think it beyond the pale.
There's a piece in a Sunday paper which suggests a coasening of Australian culture and a lack of courtesy which seems to be excused on our 'time poor' lifestyle.
Please don't prove that is correct by allowing such offensive drivel on MH.
Commenters here can take and dish out - but not in such an offensive way.
MH does have a standards policy, does it not?
Posted by: ibbit | March 24, 2013 at 10:45 AM
Well Smutsie did say :
"Want my personal opinion of Tim Mathieson - he's a dick-head."
Thanks to Oldman for running interference for Smutsie.
Posted by: AlterEgo | March 24, 2013 at 10:56 AM
Sheesh, ibbit.
I'm in general agreement with you.
Never thought that I would ever say that.
Part of our social decay is the 24 hour news cycle and to 30 second sound bite.
Our political leaders are reduced to conforming to this to at least try to get their message across.
Posted by: AlterEgo | March 24, 2013 at 11:03 AM
Ibbit, Oldman has fomented an unhealthy hatred toward me since I became editor on MH.
I agree that there is no place on MH for his unrelated psychopathic rants. However, as the insults were against me I decided not to delete his comment, as I can do, but chose to leave it there for all to read and judge Oldman accordingly, and they have.
I can also ban Oldman but people like that might regard such a move as a victory.
The more readers that take this vile creature to task, the more he may realise that he is unloved - that is more effective.
Oldman's psychopathic nastiness is the result of emptying our mental asylums onto the streets to inflict harm upon decent people.
If readers strongly believe that MH would be better off without the vitriol of Oldman, I invite you to leave comments to that effect. Let the people speak!
Posted by: Geoff Crocker | March 24, 2013 at 11:14 AM
Ooops.
Went back and read Oldman's comment word for word in detail.
All the individual words - no problemo, but the implications when strung together - not necessary for the debate.
Tim Mathieson is still a dick-head.
We've all seen this before, drop-dead gorgeous girl ends up stuck with total bozo. Not that Julia is drop-dead gorgeous, but surely a catch.
She would have done better to try eHarmony or RSVP.
Maybe Linne could comment on this if she is around.
Posted by: AlterEgo | March 24, 2013 at 11:43 AM
Thanks Geoff.
I did not look at the issue from your point of view. In fact, I thought the comment was offensive and demeaning in the extreme to you and others - women as well as men.
But I guess if you are happy to leave him be judged by other commenters who have a great deal more intelligence and dignity, that has to be OK.
It is to be hoped MH does not descend into the type of offensive coarseness too common to our culture today.

" ...the likes of Windsor, Katter, Oakshot, Thompson, Wilke, and Brandt ... ".
Quite a spread across the political spectrum there, Grantley.
But all of them are members of parliament because their electorates returned them. Next time round, come 14 September, could be very different, we will see.
" ... small business, sees no humour in a massive loss of confidence in our govt that chokes the life out of our economy.....talk a walk around and ask the retailers ..."
Actually, had a long chat one morning with my local florist when ordering flowers for Mrs AlterEgo's birthday.
She told me how hard things were, etc, etc.
Returned in the afternoon at agreed time to pick the flowers up and she apologised saying "I'm doing them now, I've been flat out all day".
The Australian economy is actually in good shape, if compared to other major economies. Yes, I know ... two speed economy ... I agree.
If there is one person who is talking down our economy it is Tony Abbott. He only does this in Australia, overseas he's all praise for it.
Posted by: AlterEgo | March 24, 2013 at 12:03 PM
Hey kids, lift the tone. I could not give the proverbial about the first bloke, roll on Clean Up Australia Day as someone said. What i despair of is a better constitutional framework, in some ways like that of the USA, which restrains the red-haired one and her team of the long march agenda. I did not ask, for example, for 20,000 new regs and the repeal of around, wow, 150. I do not want, for example, to award a foreign student with nationality just for turning up, its more than paper. I want, for example, a government that does not govern by stealth or lies or crony capitalism and non-incessant presidential MSM campaigning. I want each politician to say that there is no such thing as the abuse of the freedom of speech. I want each and every one of the bastards to do as Koestler apparently said and speak (write) ruthlessly what they know to be the truth, or else shut up.
Posted by: AussieHarleyChick | March 24, 2013 at 12:05 PM
Sorry, it was a toss up between non- stop and incessant campaigning and i guess i chose both there.
Posted by: AussieHarleyChick | March 24, 2013 at 12:08 PM
I agree, Mathieson is a "dick-head" which has connotations much broader that the purely personal.
Once was the case when government got on with the job of governing without the incessant campaigning which is what chasing a nightly news grab is.
This communication was usually with regard to government direction, major policy change and implementation, or something calamatious which may have occurred here or overseas and any repercussions there may have been for government and the polity.
In other words, we were scarely aware of government and governing.
What goes on today is pretty intolerable i.e. 24 hour politicking - government in your face constantly and usually with justification as to why something is out of control - budget, border control etc.
This is no way to govern as the public becomes cynical and fed up with politicians which contributes to the low esteem in which they are held today. This is a great pity because we have to be able to trust them to run the country properly on behalf of all.
Posted by: ibbit | March 24, 2013 at 12:10 PM
comment 30.
If there is one thing we should all be grateful for, that is that the economy wanders along, mainly under its own steam.
It mainly copes with all the regulation and inpediments this government has thrown in its path.
Who are the main sufferers? Workers - thousands of whom have lost their jobs due to the policies of this government.
Also thousands of small businesses who have lost their business and often at great cost to themselves as well as staff out of work.
In spite of what the suspect statistics say on the job front, that is a fact.
Another thought on your florist: most efficient businesses make sure their commitments are fullfilled on time. Few would have an excuse ready rather than the product ordered and certainly not in this business climate of tight wallets.
Just another way of viewing things.
Posted by: ibbit | March 24, 2013 at 12:24 PM
AlterEgo 30, "The Australian Economy is actually in good shape if compared to other major economies." Just what major economies are you comparing it to?
It is easy to make such claims when most of the worlds major economies are struggling or are completely on their knees. The European Union is a shambles, Greece and Spain are on their knees and even Japan is under pressure and the US is no better. So, it is a very dubious claim, and not much to hang your hat on, to be the best of a bad bunch.
The better part of our two speed economy is in reasonable shape not because of anything this government has done, but in spite of it.
Between the 2007 election and the 2010 election over 30,000 business in the non-mining sector closed and there hasn't been any slowdown in the past two years with new business registrations at an all time low.
When I walk along shopping strips in both major and minor towns on the east cost I see empty shops, I see shops that are struggling and if you talk to the locals and ask how things are going in their area they will tell you of the shops that shut down recently or the small factory that shut and put off ten or so workers or I hear of larger businesses retreating under financial pressure and putting of thousands of workers.
An economy that is actually in good shape, eh? If that is so then why aren't the benefits filtering down to our citizens, many of whom are in need?
Posted by: Allan | March 24, 2013 at 01:57 PM
Geoff, you are much more tolerant than I. I would have cut off his water long ago.
One thing is sure, you are a far better person than Oldman is or ever will be.

RecidivistjuLiar's behavior has.

Have you considered that your florist may have needed to be "flat out" just to keep her head above water ? Many, many small business operators will put in 100 hour weeks just to earn the right to be there next month.
Two speed economy? No, I have long maintained it is a three speed economy.
No doubt if you are employed, directly or indirectly, by the mining industry you are doing well, if you are a govt employee life is pretty good, finance is generally lucrative but please dont forget that there a lot of very ordinary Aussies out there that are doing it very hard, working long hours just to make end meet and survive through a morass of govt ineptitude and union bloody mindedness.
As you say, quite correctly, we will see.
And for the record, I disagree that Tony is "negative"...what is he supposed to say about bad and inept govt ? I actually think he has been remarkable restrained in his comments when you compare what the alp was saying in the leadup to the 2007 election....which some of us remember very clearly.

Funny how Smutsie, ibbit and alter ego have the same logo.
As these "three" are asking about Linne - where's Walter?
Posted by: Peter Simmons | March 24, 2013 at 07:34 PM
Geoff,
"Unhealthy hatred towards you", hardly, I don't know you to hate you but you did say in an email that I got up your nose and I replied that the feeling was mutual and also that I found you to be a rude beggar. That is where the the "unhealthy" ends.
If mine was a psychopathic rant, then what the hell was your piece above if not also a personal attack, both invective and spiteful; her (The PM's) "present main squeeze, (how many has "she" had and the implication that The PM is some kind of slut), and "Australia’s “First Bloke,” Tim Mathieson" (how very American of you, 'First lady' - 'First Bloke'?
It all fits right in with the headline in an earlier MH link to an Tele article, "Julia's houseboy has duties (was that your headline too?) It's hard to imagine you writing about John Howard's "Housegirl" Janet or Tony Abbott's "Housegirl", Margaret.
http://www.menzieshouse.com.au/2012/11/julias-houseboy-has-duties.html
Not to mention that subtext of this innuendo and disdain is merely a reflection of your own mindset and right out of the 50's stereotypes; that what Tim does for his partner is just "unnatural", that "Blokes" are not meant to be good at housework, that housework is the domain of women, that "Blokes" should be out working. What if he's made enough money and never has to work again?
What you, and the worthless bloodclots that agree with your every word on this forum, ignore, is that Tim is treated exactly like all previous PM spouses/partners have been treated in the past. Perhaps you can't come to grips with the fact that Australia elected a female PM. Gee Wizz, from any readings of the media during the Howard years, Jennette Howard was the puppet master of Kiribilli for about 11 years. Get use to it until a new PM is elected and heaven help us from articles from you if Julie Bishop is elected leader, any idea who her "present main squeeze" is?

Perhaps the main reason for your cowardly attack on Tim is the following from you:
"Tim really put people offside when he spoke about his daily activities at the Lodge while his meal ticket sprayed venom at the Opposition in parliament.
To get to the PM you rubbish her partner because she had the audacity to out your beloved Opposition in Parliament. He does not deserve the odious diatribe you hurl at him, he wasn't elected to his position, is not paid and is not involved in policy decisions of the government. If I remember correctly, common decency dictated that spouses, wives, partners and the children of politicians have traditionally been off limits in the (media), of course at least until that other grub, Bill O'Chee chose to break the rule when he outed a previous fiancee of Paul Keating in Parliament. Perhaps you feel that anyone in the public eye is fair game, if this is true, then your wife and family are fair game too? Your name name is in the public domain.
Back to you diatribe:
"
Since when do you give a toss about the sensitivities of Islamists? I would suggest that your problems is not to do with the sensitivities of Islamic Malaysia or Indonesia, but is code for 50's sense of "immorality". Both the Malaysians and Indonesians are a most polite peoples and would never allow your sense of "immorality cloud the business at hand. As for your musing on his dress standards, Laura Bush's immaculate dress sense did not make her husband a better president, he was still and will always bee a buffoon.
If you were hurt by my first comment then you should have thought about your cowardly personal attacks on a man you know will not be allowed to to reply before publishing. Then again, perhaps like Andrew Dolt, you are on the payroll of Rupert and under instructions from him to copy paste and reproduce anything that will save his Aus empire from the NBN.
Posted by: Oldman | March 24, 2013 at 09:38 PM
Geoff's article was to do with the notion that Tim is a political liability. There was nothing beyond the innocuous 'first squeeze' to even hint at his personal, much less sexual relations.
You first coarse response was to invoke sex, to raise a question of impotency on Geoff.
Called out on that, your latest is to spray verbal buckshot at all your petty hates and make accusations of hypocricy and hidden agendas against Geoff and anyone who agrees with his articles, probably in an effort to concel your first grubby response.
For me, I wouln't ban you either.
You have shown before the characteristics of lower pond life, now you are just pathetically and irrelevantly ranting as well.

Comment 41?
Correction Olbloke, Gillard was not elected, she was appointed by a couple of turncoats and a possee of greens all of whom are hell bent on destroying the country with the support of idiots like yourself and the invaluable help of their sociopath PM.
If you consider you are disliked and addressed ill, then you are quite correct because you have more than amply earned these reward.
Oldbloke, you are beneath contempt and your self-justifying whining changes than not one iota.
Whether you like it or not, Mathieson is a political liability with a none to sweet smelling past. Go look it up and learn.

Nothing sexual in his "innocuous 'first squeeze", yeah right, pull the other one.
Geoff: Julia Gillard is landed by her present main squeeze, Australia’s “First Bloke,” Tim Mathieson.
Repeat, "present main squeeze, deliberately inferring that that there have been a number of men in her life recently and that Tim is only he most recent.
If that is not the most vicious, spiteful and inaccurate insult against the PM and Tim Mathieson then my uncle is a monkey.
Hidden agendas, my backside. It was most deliberate.
Posted by: Oldman | March 25, 2013 at 12:09 PM
If his words were not deliberate then he should make a public apology to the PM & Tim for the poor choice of wording and only then will I apologise to Geoff for my comments in #15. Everything else I said remains.
Posted by: Oldman | March 25, 2013 at 12:14 PM
Well-she has had a number of men in her life recently. One of them being a current minister in her government who was married at the time. She was the OTHER woman.
If you think main or current squeeze is so offensive as to reply with an even more offensive post you are as stupid and thin skinned as most of us suspect.
Maybe you should finish primary school before you post again.
Posted by: kraka | March 25, 2013 at 12:42 PM
You really are a sad and pathetic person.
I do not seek nor want an apology from a person like you sir as anything spewing forth from you is worthless in every sense.
You do, however, owe an apology to the readers of Menzies House for your vile behaviour, especially to the decent women who find you lesser than a grub.
That would require the action of a just man, a trait you may never have known and perhaps never will. Either is of no consequence to me and most others, I suspect.
Posted by: Geoff Crocker | March 25, 2013 at 03:15 PM
A message to Oldman.
I read lots of blogs but you take the cake. It is only on a trusting site like Menzies House who allow comments to be post instantly that you could have any of you rude and contemptible rantings published.
I believe Mr Crocker to be a most tolerant man in not banning a troublemaking, insulting idiot like you permanently.
In answer to the editor's request as to dumping you, I SAY GO AWAY!

"If that is not the most vicious, spiteful and inaccurate insult against the PM and Tim Mathieson then my uncle is a monkey."
Sorry about your uncle, runs in the family, does it?
Posted by: Rumplestilskin | March 25, 2013 at 03:48 PM
Well said Geoff-Oldman is lower than whale shit. Better to let him rant and make a fool of himself than send him away to the kiddies table at Crikey where groupthink will only entrench his factless bile.
Posted by: kraka | March 25, 2013 at 03:53 PM
I don't believe that I have ever read such an extended collective of misinformed verbiage that amounts to nothing more than whining drivel.
You write a comment that is in such bad taste that you didn't deserve to have it printed and then you have the audacity to insult Geoff Crocker and the readers further with your moaning and bleating inaccuracies and misleading and foul comments at 41, 42, 45 and 46.
Your raving diatribe is nothing more than a further insult to those who comment here solely because they don't agree with you.
You fella are a loathsome individual without principles who couldn't be called a man by any stretch of the imagination.
Posted by: Allan | March 25, 2013 at 04:02 PM
What's the matter with you, jealous are you?
Is that why you come to the venomous Julia and vacuous Tim's defence so hysterically?
What a pathetic puddle of bilge water you are.
.

I am responding to Geoff Crocker's question about banning Oldman.
I am a 72-year-old lady and have been reading Menzies for about two years. This is the first comment I have posted on any website.
having reviewed the very many back comments posted by Oldman I consider him to be nasty, crass, serial pest.
Just one example..."With the crap you post on here I suspect that your kids would marry an alsatian just to get away from you."
That is part of Oldman's reply to a lady commenter.
For the common good of Menzes and its readers I hope you do ban sick individuals like Oldman that offer nothing good, nothing of interest and nothing of decency.
My name is Milly Oldman. Is it that you realise what a cretin you are that you cower behind a fake name.
Sincerely, Milly.
Posted by: Milly | March 25, 2013 at 05:13 PM
Right!
You've been reading the articles and comments on MH for 2 years and you choose to respond to a few choice words by me directed at a coward and a few worthless blodclots who deliberately promote racial & religious discrimination & vilification? This tells me more about you than your name will ever tell me.
Btw, while they make seek to be seen as ladies and gentlemen, those who promote and vilify on the basis of colour, creed or race can never be ladies or gentlemen.
Posted by: Oldman | March 25, 2013 at 08:43 PM
What a spineless piece of crub you are. You are too gutless to use your name and you are too gutless to have a go at someone who can fight back and beat you hands down.
Instead you level your bile at an older lady who has summed you up nicely.
I went along with Geoff when he said that he would let you run, but now I'm asking him to get rid of you and your filthy mind and attitude. The people who enjoy MH don't need vermin like you directing your vile twisted abuse at them day after day.
Posted by: Allan | March 25, 2013 at 09:12 PM
You Liberal Party lovers show your true colours with online articles getting personal about the Prime Minister.
If you are so confident about winning the September election, why the need to stoop so low? And even if you were 20% behind the ALP that would still be no excuse to play the woman and not the ball.
You Liberal Party finks are disdainful.

Thank you for your positive feedback. I'm sure everyone here at MH always appreciate contructive criticism.
Say hello to your Mom for me.
Posted by: Abraham | March 26, 2013 at 07:03 AM
I'm sure that you will take that into account next time Gillard slanders Abbott!!!!
Posted by: Allan | March 26, 2013 at 07:20 AM
Milly, I am even older than you and share the same values - the values of an older, more decent Australia.
This Oldman - oldbloke as I call him because he does not deserve the dignity of man in his tag, hangs around insulting commenters here and then whining in self-justification when attacked for his vile rudeness and paltry comments.
Whatever it is - he, she or it, it is clearly a deviant of some kind and gets its kicks with foul outbursts like the one above.
She, he, or it is very lucky Geoff thinks the way he does as he abuses the free nature of MH. It's for sure oldbloke would not get a run on monitored sites with the drivel and foul rubbish he writes.

Comment 57, Michael Webb
Go read the host of articles about our great PM today arising out of the latest Newspoll.
Don't play the woman, you say. Didn't know the parliamentary Libs did. Rather the boots on the other foot.
As for the rest, non- politicians - people are entitled to their opinion and like it or not, Tim Mathieson is a jumped up fool.
Don’t play the woman you say. The woman plays the man (Abbott) and has from day one of becoming PM. She also plays the people of Australia for fools, thumbing her nose at every rotten poll, which says the people detest her administration.
It is alleged that Gillard herself is under investigation by the Victoria police.
It is considered by many (legal) people who have had dealings with her and the aftermath of her endeavours, that her honesty may again be subject to question.
She convicted herself as a liar out of her own mouth. No justification she and others have come up with goes anyway toward easing the perception that she is a liar.
She has sullied the office of PM and cheapened politics with her lies, her class, gender and other wars.
All this is considered and widely held opinion.
Even Labor people, good Labor people in and outside the parliamentary party are telling her to cut the crap - class war and other rubbishy rhetoric. Are they playing the woman, too? Or are they trying to make her listen to commonsense?
But will she? Of course not. Everything is about Julia and in her eyes Julia can do not wrong and knows better than everybody else.
All the above is nothing much to do with the Libs. Rather it is all Gillard and her rabble's own work.

You are not very clever are you? I could be Bill, or Bob or Jason or Richard and what difference will it make? How does anyone know that your real name is Allan and even if it is, so what? Have you also asked the other Ultra Right Loons on this forum to reveal their real names or are members of your Circle of Jerks exempt from revealing their names?
As for your idiotic claim about my reply to Milly, I bet she she'd be tough as boots and just because she claims to be elderly does not mean she is either physically or mentally frail like you. There was no bile directed at her, only the truth.
Time you toughened up!
Oldman.
Posted by: Oldman | March 26, 2013 at 07:49 PM
As I said, you are a disgusting piece of crud. Your inane ravings are about what I would expect from you.
I'm not very clever, eh? I write articles that are published with my full name and background but you haven't got the guts to do that have you. You also haven't got enough intelligence to see the link, have you?
Is it because your family might find out what an arsehole you are the reason that you don't use your name?
Your estimation of Milly is about as low as you could sink and your claim of not directing bile at her is on par for your intelligence level. She has tallied you up pretty accurately though, hasn't she?
As for the circle "Circle of Jerks", they have more intelligence that you could ever aspire to and at least they put forward reasonable debate. You don't even come close to that and you excrete your foul droppings from the shelter of a pen name. How gutless can you get.
As for me toughening up, I have dealt with arseholes like you in other circumstances and it appears nothing changes with you morons. A tough man are you? I bet you couldn't knock a drunk off a jerry.
Go away Oldman. Nobody here wants any more of your imbecilic abuse or your foul brain dead comments.

Talk of class war is not rhetoric at all. It is a daily reality that some wealthy 'high net worth' individuals and corporations seek to maximise advantage against working people.
Selfishness and excessive profits and profiteering are anti-social anti-values.
Posted by: Michael Webb | April 5, 2013 at 11:14 PM
'High net worth' individuals need working people as much as working people need 'high net worth' individuals. It's rubbish to suggest one as the power just to exploit the other. Businesses compete to attract good workers. No worker is slave in this country, they are all free to leave for a better offer.
Socialists need 'class war' because they need an 'enemy' to justify the extreme level of intrusions into personal freedom and choice, market distortions, tax increases and red tape they want to force onto everyone else. Without some sort of boogeyman the public would never accept it.

.... RecidivistjuLiar's "towering intellect" frightens ....
Everything about her frightens.
But one.
Her meat-locker-temperature IQ.
She's a dullard. A deadly dangerous dulard, it is true -- but a dullard nonetheless!

Goodness me. I have never been on this site prior to today.
Reminds me of all my playground duties when I had to listen to the Grade 5 girls being nasty little things to each other. Thank goodness they grew up and reached adulthood with self respect and respect for others.
You are all pathetically hilarious. Sadly there are so many of you on the planet.
If you don't like Julia and you don't like Tim that is your choice and if they knew you I'm sure the feeling would be mutual. Go and play lawn bowls or volunteer where people need support but please stop wasting your time and your life. Negativity will kill you.
Posted by: Maggie Lee | October 1, 2013 at 02:43 PM
Goodness me, Maggie. Don't mind wasting a bit of your own life with a completely negative point of view I see. People in glass houses, etc.
