Andy Semple discusses Alan Jones' recent comments:
Alan Jones monumentally screwed up. He thought he was on safe allied ground, speaking at the annual Sydney University Liberal Club President’s dinner.
He said stuff about Gillard’s late father that didn’t need to be said, and it’s only news because some "journalist" illegally recorded his speech. In the court of public opinion, Jones is guilty as sin for his remarks but in a court of law, the recording itself would be inadmissible.
The lesson here for everyone, is this. Just because you think you are among “friends” don’t think for a moment that someone won’t stab you in the back.
Had the News Limited journalist made him or herself known to Alan Jones prior to him speaking I seriously doubt he would have said what he said about Gillard’s late father. After all, as Alan Jones said himself, the comments were off the cuff during a 58-minute talk at a "rambunctious, rollicking" function.
Everything else Alan Jones said about Julia Gillard is on the money. She has repeated lied to the Australian public on major policy issues. Her polices have done great damage to our country and the progressives love nothing more than when a high profile conservative like Alan Jones screws up so they can hammer the bejesus out of him.
Alan Jones made one unfortunate remark and yet the Labor Party and many in the media have gone ballistic. Forget Defcon 5, they all went straight to Defcon 1, calling for him to either be sacked from 2GB (which he won’t) and for advertisers to pull out from his showor 2GB altogether (sadly, some like Mercedes Benz Australia Pacific have got no back bone and have withdrawn).
If I was advertising with News Limited, I’d pull my account with them for allowing a sneaky journalist to record someone’s speech without their permission.
As for the progressives trying to associate Tony Abbott to Alan Jones’ comments is just farcical. Alan Jones is the one who said the remarks and he has now apologised for those remarks. If certain people won’t accept his apology then that’s their choice but I bet these same people are also the same people who think the thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants who flood unchallenged into our country should be given the benefit of the doubt and forgiven for their trespass.
I’m tipping Alan Jones will still be doing his 2GB morning radio show long after Julia Gillard has been voted out of the office of Prime Minister.

Andy, Jones' comment was off - but no one seems interested in the "Director of Communications for Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard"'s retweets of vile gross misogynist and offensive content -
At about the time the PM was addressing the UN, her Director of
Communications John McTernan was on twitter.
https://twitter.com/johnmcternan His retweet (of username Boing
Boing) directly links to a web page with one of the most disturbing
vids I’ve seen (American Juggalo). I am struggling to understand his
reason for retweeting it. ***PLEASE BE WARNED*** lot’s of offensive
language some of it promoting sick & violent sexual acts towards women
(see the “rap” 14 mins into the video) and some nudity. Why does the
“Director of Communications for Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard”
believe his 8,000 followers need to see this? This appears on
McTernan's official "Director of Communications" Twitter page. All of
his followers (including cabinet ministers) would have presumedly
received his retweet.
Here’s the page his retweet links to

"Alan Jones made one unfortunate remark"
No he has made many disgraceful remarks. His list of ignorant and hateful comments is long. Should we list them here?

An observation - Alan Jones sometimes talks about himself in the third person. I wonder if he's lonely.

good find, JBD and why would Gillard's communication director tweet such rubbish? because they are Jedi Masters at peddling muck

Gee Andy ... you seem to lump a lot of people into the Labor fold there - including a Democrat who is now a Green - and a commentator who was sacked for her tweets that were deemed offensive by her employer.
Were you struggling to find enough ALP quotes to flesh out your rant?
And as usual you ignore your own lie.

On twitter you will also find many who disagree with Catherine Deveney and have called her out on her tweets regarding Alan Jones' sexuality.

They're all progressives

Andy at 9 in response to Signedin - you took the words right out of my mouth.
If Labor want to play this game, then in terms of offensive the remark in parliament by - could have been Albanesi, but was definetly one of the courteous front bench - describing those attending the anti-carbon tax rally "as the convoy of incontinence" ranks high on the list of objectionable.
Many who attended the rally were older Australians - those people who built this country for the wreckers currently in charge. Not that the wreckers would think well of those who have gone before them, and with much more grace and competence.
Pity conservatives are not as forthright in using all means to hand when it comes to attack. The government might have been given a wake up call for their uncouthness in the above regard.

"They're all progressives"
Oh no - all those progressives criticising Catherine Deveney.
OK I know you were responding to my prior response. So they're all "progressives" (I still disagree on Neil Mitchell however).
It is still true they are not all members of the ALP banner which you've thrown them under.
I guess facts don't matter much to you.

"could have been Albanesi, but was definetly one of the courteous front bench - describing those attending the anti-carbon tax rally "as the convoy of incontinence" "
Albanese called them the "Convoy of no Consequence."
It was Kelvin Thomson who labelled them "a convoy of incontinence"
It's easy enough to Google this stuff - try it some time.

Many older Australians - those people who built this country - want action on climate change so their grandchildren have a future.

Googling the name of the clever, thoughtful person who uttered those offensive words from within the safety of parliament makes it OK, does it?
Many older Australians would also like to feel their super and future was safe from the depredations of this government's money grabbing tactics.
Many older people will be aghast that their grandchildren's future will not be as secure as their own was.
Why? Because their standard of living will be lower due to the massive debt Labor has run up, which they will have to repay.
Most older people with children and grandchildren hope those lives will be better than their own, which have not always been easy. That is always the hope of parents and grandparents.
Many older - in fact, most Australians - would wish their power bills could go back to the moderate amounts they were before this government and its carbon tax lie, among other things.
Many older Australians, with the benefit of lived experience, are sceptical of climate change utterances. Not climate change per se because they know - even if the other end of the community have not the experience to - that climate change is a constant.
Besides, just about every day now pages of newspapers and magazines are reporting that AGW was a scam.
That battle is nigh on lost, in spite of Australia's valiant efforts to make it seem as if it were other than a political scam.
It amuses me that leftie blowhards inhabit a conservative website in the futile hope that their ideas will change the minds of those who think along conservative lines.
In the interest of freedom and freedom of speech it is your right of course. But it is also the right of others to think conservative values and economic management are far superior to that of progressives, and to run websites accordingly.
Apropos Alan Jones comment and the businesses pulling advertising from his station; Jerry Harvey said yesterday he felt he was joining a “lynch mob”, but also felt he had to withdraw “amid a growing political and consumer backlash.”. Whipped up consumer indignation maybe - but why political?
