HERE are some things I never thought I’d see in this country I love.
I never thought I’d see people picketing shops because their owners were Jews.
But in Melbourne last Friday, 19 protesters were arrested as they tried to stop people from shopping at the Max Brenner chocolate and coffee store in Melbourne’s QV.
In Sydney last month, Leftist and Muslim protesters did the same to a Max Brenner shop in Sydney, claiming the Jewish-owned franchise company supported the Israeli Army.
I’ve seen pictures of Jewish shops being attacked before, of course, but they were in black and white, in another country at another ghastly time.
But this is Australia. Today.
Here’s another thing I never thought I’d see in this country I’ve loved for its fair go.
I never thought I’d see academics sign a petition demanding someone be stopped from simply arguing.
But in Western Australia last week, that’s just what was done by 50 academics, from professors to a PhD candidate specialising in the representation of the Salvation Army in Finnish cinema, who demanded the University of Notre Dame stop warming sceptic Christopher Monckton from speaking there.
Without doubt worth hitting the link to read the rest of this very powerful piece.
This is what Coomunism/Socialism looks like when it is beginning to take root.

A very important post, to be sure. Parts of Australia are becoming increasingly feral.

Bolt is repeating himself - again.
As is oldskool ...
"This is what the embryo of a Socialist/ communist state looks like, Fight against it or get used to it."
Reply July 6, 2011 at 08:58 AM
Bolt nudges old racist and intolerant stereotypes and he probably thinks he is oh so clever.
"never thought I’d see people picketing shops because their owners were Jews."
Jews? Who is playing the race/religion card? I understand they are protesting because the company is Israeli - Strauss Group Ltd - not because it is Jewish.
Now I don't agree with the protest ... but surely Bolt is the one playing the race/religion card here.
"I never thought I’d see clan members ..."
Clan members in Melbourne? A not so subtle Ku Klux Klan reference. I'm sure Andy would have recognised it.
"I never thought I’d see a man with a criminal record and links to the underworld given the honour of having his whitewashed memoirs published by a university.
Yet that’s what I have seen in Melbourne just last week, and in Sydney’s western suburbs for years. That what I have seen with Melbourne University Publishing, the preferred publisher of Mick Gatto."
Did Bolt somehow forget the publishing phenomenon that is/was Chopper Read?
Bolt is a fear peddling hack and you would be better off dissecting his nonsense rather than swallowing it.

Signedin;
what is your purpose here?
Are you trolling the site to convert people to your left wing communist lunacy?
The facts are that I know what the hidden agenda is and you and all your uni mentality save the world friends are feeding this socialist mechanism which you do not even have any idea what it will create.
read the communist manifesto and compare it to Green party policies. and then you can give me one example of where Socialism has succeeded.
The fact is you can't
Fact also, that although you may be genuine in your belief and it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling to support your various causes, the point remains that you and all like you are ignorantly fueling a communist disease that can only bring one consequence which is economic ruin.
i await your response of where communism has succeeded

oldskool, I'm sure SignedIn only wants to enlighten you.
Here are some examples of successful socialist initiatives:

I was commenting on the topic as posted re: Bolt's column. If you would like to do likewise feel free. Otherwise you are the troll trying to bait me. You don't even recognise your hypocrisy.

it is all part of the big jig saw which is communism and all its little deviant pathways and i see that you are unable to support your uni mentality with evidence.
Why can't you supply an example of socilism/ communism which has been a success?
sounds like you have alot of spare time on your hands- ever considered getting a job and contributing to the community rather than your constant repetitive and misguided trolling to convert readers on this site to communism which you know nothing about but think that the warm fuzzy feeling you get from supporting uni mentality causes is benefiting society.
look at the big picture rather than the small minded communist diversion issues you are peddling
you have no idea what machine you are supporting
ps. i will repat the basic fact that all these little skirmishes are the beginning of what communism / socialism looks like in contemporary society as it gains momentum form ignorants such as you

Read the Communist manifesto and comapre it to gov policies

PS. "your" in the context you have used should be you're.
Posted by: oldskool | July 7, 2011 at 01:13 PM
ps. the only reason i can buy chinese goods is that they have relaxed comminst laws to be able to expand their economy through enterprise lifted straight from capitalism-
something genuine communsim does not permit-
so how about you learn something before you ignorantly speak about it

Is there any chance oldskool could:
a) stay on topic
b) be relevant
c) contribute anything other than personal attack and conspiracy fantasies?
and any chance of Menzies House upholding their comments policy in regards to oldskool?
Posted by: SignedIn | July 7, 2011 at 08:05 PM
Oldskool, I'd like to know why the services I identified don't qualify as successful socialist policy.
Posted by: liberal elitist | July 7, 2011 at 09:52 PM
Do you consider the public education system a success? Compared to the Individual driven Catholic and private systems?
Do you consider the public health system a success? Based on waiting times of several hours due to every dropout with a runny nose clogging the emergency wards? And administrators outnumbering doctors.
So how is our socialist government going with roads and highways?
