MALCOLM Turnbull is being urged by colleagues to reconsider his future in politics after his latest attack on Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.
A senior Liberal told The Australian Online that Mr Turnbull had a strong future in the party, but only if he could shake his “bitter and twisted” mindset.
Another Liberal went further, saying it was time for the former Liberal leader to resign.
“For the good of the Liberal Party and the country, Malcolm Turnbull has to leave the parliament,” the source said.
As I wrote here a couple of months back: http://rcandelori.wordpress.com/2011/05/30/lets-get-one-thing-straight/ - there is nothing surprising about Malcolm Turnbull's position. Storm in a teacup.

Time to go, Labor stooge. He is an arrogant, egotistic and power-hungry saboteur. Al liability Coalition can't afford.

Ahh TURNCOAT TURNBULL!
Where do I start!
That would be a YES for him to resign from the Liberal Party ASAP. He is clearly a labor party stooge.
Have a read of these interesting articles about the TRAITOR.........

Yes, Turncoat can piss off and move in with Hewson, make a fine pair of housemates!

I find this whole story troubling, one of the big problems of Australian politics is that members are tied down to party lines and any move away from it results in an immense backlash.
Sure I disagree with Malcolm on his climate change views but the deeper problem of having representatives that actually represent the people that voted them in is a bigger problem.

He is a bitter man who, like Comrade Rudd, should do the honourable thing and resign his seat to either stand as an independent, or leave politics for good. His lack of judgement as to when he decides to take another shot at the current leader is appalling at best, or deliberately designed to sabotage Abbott's leadership at worst.
Is it any wonder that true conservatives continue to shake their heads at a supposed Liberal.

What about the good of Goldman Sachs? How would they get Carbon Trading going without Turnbull's help.
Posted by: Carl Chapman | July 14, 2011 at 04:43 PM
LOL - Hewson and Turnbull as roomies – The MP for Goldman Sachs needs to resign from the Liberal party and join the ALP so he can replace Julia Gillard.
As for Hewson – he should just ride off into the sunset – What’s with these former liberals who become so venomous when they are no longer in the spot light?

Is there only room for one POV in the Liberal Party, your POV? How Democratic!
Posted by: Oldman | July 14, 2011 at 05:32 PM
To put it simply. Turnbull should not be forced out of the party, nor should there be a call for him to resign.
At least, that is if the liberals still believe in the marketplace of ideas.

The interesting fact is that both Turnbull and Abbott are Rhodes Scholars - as was Bob Hawke etc. This is puzzling - Rhodes Scholars tend to be lefties, or mercantalists, so I suppose there is some balance being made.

Nah ... keep him there as a constant reminder of how close we came to having that insufferable prat Rudd foisted upon us for a further term.

Turnbull just wants his oil portrait on the wall. He's in this game for power. I wish people could see that Abbott is in the game because he actually has a vision for Australia (you don't have to like his vision, but at least he wants to make Australia something). The preselectors in Wentworth need to grow a pair and get rid of "kiss me hardy" Turnbull.

Goldman-Sachs must have some power over Malcolm as they contributed to his HIH court case. He won't reveal how much it contributed. He made several errors of judgement when Leader and besides that he struts around too much and the electorate will not take that. He's competent in his telecommunications portfolio and he should stick to that and make people realise just how much the NBN will cost and how long it will last when new technology is in sight at the present moment. Not to be, like Hewson and Rudd bitter and venomous and show it by trying to de-stabilise the Party they are supposed to be following and into which their electorate have voted them.

Turnbull's philosophy is more in keeping with Labor ideals......he should move over
to the other side. Turnbull and Rudd - two insufferable egos in the one room would be too much for JuLIAR to handle!! lol lol lol

I like Turnbull and I hope he stays engaged with politics. I think he's wrong on climate policy, but I like the fact that he has a nuanced view on many issues, and honestly states his view. Of course he disagrees with Abbott's policy, but he has said that he will support it because that is the requirement of shadow cabinet. An honest answer and a fair position to hold.

For what it's worth John, I very much share your view here.
